Momentum Month – A Mid-month update

We are half-way through our first ever Momentum Month, and I wanted to update you in on the “half-way-ish” mark.  Hint Hint: lets hope the last half sees our hard work paying off.

Report Card Time:

Groceries – A+ For Now

I have actually managed to stay on budget in the grocery department, thanks to cash back I have used from Checkout51, Caddle, Ebates, and PC Optimum points.  (Read more about the apps I use here.)

My husband has been complaining HARD about the amount of food I have been bringing home with me.  The restricted budget definitely has meant less snacking foods – which is the reason for his grumbling.  On the plus side, rando food in the pantry is getting eaten up.  I think as a prep for October’s Momentum Month, I will be more conscious about pantry stock leading up to it. I’m also going to feel rich when my grocery budget is back up to $150/week!

Take out – A +

We slashed our take-out budget in half for this month, and we have stuck to it! Believe me, no one is more surprised than me! I have been more on top of making sure we pack snacks from home, and feeding myself before walking out the door.  I think come April, we might be able to cut an additional $20 out of that budget going forward.  We’ll see.  So far we have spent $19.81 of our $60 budget.

Launch Coaching Sessions – Done!

Coaching sessions have officially launched, and I have resource packages complete.  If anyone would like a shopping pre-plan and shop with me, feel free to email me @ Nikky@motherhoodandmoney.ca for more information.

File Tax Returns – Done!

We are still anxiously waiting to see what our tax return will be this year.  My husband and I have had a little tax-return meeting to decide how those funds will be divided up once the money is in our hands.  We’ll keep you posted on that as soon as we have a number, is it wrong to pray its huge?!

Sell All The Things!

You guys, I gotta be honest, my on-line-sale-game is strong.  Most of the time.  On-line sales are nearly non-existent this month, and I am praying that the situation starts to improve.  I still have items left to list, so I am going to keep working on it this week.

No sales on Ebay yet. BOO!

Pick Up Extra Shifts:

There has been some shifts that have come up for me this month, however none that have worked with my childcare situation.  We are headed into a bit of a batty schedule with my kids for the next two weeks, so I am giving up on this as a source of income.  I know that I won’t be able to pick up anything in the next two weeks unless it happens to be a super short shift.

Where does that leave us?

We are SUPER close to having our emergency fund topped back up to $1000.  I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will be able to have that done by tomorrow or the next day.  When that is complete, it will all be going towards debt baby!  Yahoo!  I can’t wait to do my monthly breakdown at the end of this month and see us getting ahead again.
